The 6.16-kilometer 4-lane Cagayan de Oro Eastern Interior Road Project (Gusa-Puerto Jct Sayre Highway) is in danger of not being completed following Senator Lacson’s revelation that right-of-way (ROW) issues have not been resolved since 2018. Further, the DPWH regional director said that the tunnel which was originally proposed as part of the project will not be pursued anymore due to non-feasibility issues.

During the Senate deliberations on DPWH’s budget, Sen. Lacson pointed out that there has been no progress of the said project between January 2019 and October 2020 as shown below.

Since 2015, the project has so far been allocated between Php1.3 to Php1.4 billion out of the total P1.791 billion project cost. Another Php414.5 million is being proposed for the project for 2021. See below.
