A new grassroots regional basketball league for aspiring players from Visayas and Mindanao is set to unfold next year in Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup with Cagayan de Oro City among eleven teams who have committed to join the inaugural season. This was disclosed by founder Vicente Guingona, grandson of former Philippine vice president Teofisto Guingona Jr.
Aside from Cagayan de Oro, other teams representing their localities are Cebu City, Davao City, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Mandaue City, Zamboanga City, Roxas City, Iligan, Pagadian, and Sindangan. Teams are required to have six homegrown players in its roster.
According to Guingona, they are now working to secure clearance from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Emerging Infectious Diseases to be able to stage its tournament early next year.
