Phase I of the Cagayan de Oro Coastal Road, stretching 17.95 kilometers from Brgy. Gusa in Cagayan de Oro City to Brgy. Igpit, Opol in Misamis Oriental will soon be completed with the construction of a rotunda that would connect to Cagayan de Oro’s 3rd Bridge (Puntod-Kauswagan) and completion of the remaining road section in the vicinity of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
As per DPWH, the much awaited streetlights, pavement markings, bike lanes, and other beautification elements, have already been proposed and requested for FY 2021 under the Motor Vehicles User’s Charge – the appropriate fund source intended for the said items.
The Gusa-Igpit section was opened to traffic in the year 2017 partially addressing the traffic congestion in the existing city streets. However, it drew criticisms after the whole 17.95 km stretch didn’t have streetlights.
