While taking a break from studying theatre arts with mentors like Tony Mabesa, Dexter Santos (director of Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical), Leo Rialp, and having worked with artists like Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Candy Pangilinan, and many others, Kagayanon emerging singer-songwriter Ela Figura is set to release her first ever indie folk/rock single ‘Incompatible’ on September 23, 2020.

Ela Figura has a wide range of influences from artists like Taylor Swift, Lord Huron, The Lumineers, and Paramore. She looks up to artists like Ben & Ben, Bullet Dumas, and Lea Salonga since she’s a big fan of musical theatre as well. This girl from Cagayan de Oro has been singing and performing since she was six years old. She started writing her own songs in high school. Because art has always been an outlet for her to express herself, songwriting naturally seemed like the next step besides performing. Since then, she has decided to pursue theatre in Manila but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she is now taking a break and is now staying in her hometown. What better time to release a song than during quarantine?

If you’ve ever gotten your heart broken and want to move on by throwing love letters and pictures of your ex into a campfire you built in the woods, this is the perfect song for you. Building a fire might be impossible where you live right now, but you can still definitely get the feels by listening to this song. With raw and emotive vocals accompanied by guitars and percussions, the song captures the excruciating pain of heartbreak. The song’s producer, Neuvmbr, is known for making hiphop and R&B music under 9k records which recently signed a partnership with Warner Music Philippines. Producing an indie folk/rock song would interestingly be a first for him.

New single ‘Incompatible’ will be released on September 23, 2020.
