Authorities are now hunting an Abu Sayyaf bomb expert who reportedly carried out the deadly explosions at around noon yesterday, August 24, in Jolo, Sulu, which killed at least 7 soldiers, 4 civilians, 1 policeman, 1 suicide bomber and wounded more than 70 others.

Military officials state the bombings were likely perpetrated by the Abu Sayyaf group led by Mundi Sawadjaan who is also the main suspect in last year’s bombing of the Jolo Cathedral which killed 20 people.

Reports state a parked motorcycle loaded with improvised explosive device went off near a military truck killing some soldiers and civilians instantly. While police and military were cordoning the first blast site, a second explosion occured near the Jolo Cathedral after an unidentified woman detonated herself when she was blocked by authorities from entering the site.
