The last 80 containers of the 6,000 metric tons of illegal shipment of Korean waste in Misamis Oriental is now on its way back to its origin in Pyeongtaek City, South Korea. The wastes were loaded on board the vessel M/V Mahia at Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) last August 4, 2020.
It can be recalled that the said wastes were misdeclaraed as plastic synthetic flakes but the shipments consigned to Verde Soko Philippines Industrial Corporation were found to contain household hazardous waste. The first batch was re-exported back to Korea last January but te next shipments were delayed due to travel restrictions brought about by the pandemic. Read more details in th link below.
