Motorists continue to experience the agony of negotiating the unfinished Kauswagan approach of the Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge which is being raised as part of the Flood Risk Management Project under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Loan Agreement.

As shown below, the eastbound lanes are already raised to the desired level but still unpaved while excavation works ae still ongoing along the westbound lanes. The project aims to raise the level of the bridge approach so it will not be inundated by rising flood waters of Cagayan de Oro River. At the moment, only one lane is open for each direction resulting to slow moving traffic especially during rush hour. Worse, the almost daily rains have rendered the route to be very muddy. At the rate, project completion seems to be a long way to go.
