Because of the risks of contracting Covid-19, a jeepney driver in Iligan City has installed a contact-free fare collection system where passengers need not pass-on their fare to fellow passengers in order to pay the driver.
As shown below, the jeepney which covers the City Proper-Baraas route has a transparent plastic container (a soda bottle cut in half) where passengers can place their money and the driver would just simply pull the string to get it like a zip line or sorts which is an innovative idea. As many would notice, while social distancing in public transport is being implemented by limiting the number of passengers, the passing of money to fellow passenger somehow defeats the purpose. Perhaps, other jeepneys can copy this.
