A total of 500 residents from pre-identified households in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City have started undergoing rapid testing as part of a seroprevalence survey being jointly conducted by the City Health Office and the Department of Health in Region 10.
The main objective of the survey is to determine the level of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome- Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV2), measured in blood serums, in the population of Carmen, which is the most densely populated barangay in the city and also has the most number of Covid-19 cases in the city.
The said seroprevalence survey also seeks to level up community surveillance efforts to identify people likely to be Covid-19-infected, symptomatic or asymptomatic.
Accordingly, those who are found to be “reactive” or positive in the rapid antibody tests will have to undergo real time Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) confirmatory tests.
