The seven employees of a telecommunications firm in Cagayan de Oro who earlier tested positive via rapid test have tested NEGATIVE via confirmatory RT-PCR test. This was revealed by City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya in today’s press briefing at City Hall.

It can be recalled that the case of the 7 telco employees got the ire of City Mayor Oscar Moreno after the local private diagnostic center conducted the rapid test on employees of a major telco firm without any coordination and consultation with either City Health Office or the Department of Health Regional Office. Moreno said the rapid test not a standalone test and should be accompanied by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) which is more than 90 percent accurate.
