The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Gym in Cagayan de Oro City is serving as temporary holding area for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) before they are fetched by their respective local government units (LGUs).

Accordingly, the USTP Gym started receiving the OFWs and LSIs who arrived from Manila, Cebu and Bohol by boat at Cagayan de Oro Port in Macabalan last Wednesday, June 10. They were later fetched by their respective LGUs at night. More followed the next day and likewise fetched by their LGUs.

Some of them come as far as the Caraga Region, Davao Region, General Santos City, and North Cotabato.

During their stay, they were given food, water and other needs provided by several kindhearted donors as listed below.

The move was facilitated by the Regional Interagency Task Force (RIATF) and properly coordinated by the Department of Tourism, USTP Management, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez, OCD, PPA and other government agencies.
