A 30-year old male Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) from Tondo, Manila and his 1-year old daughter have tested positive of Covid-19 becoming the first confirmed cases in Gingoog City. This was announced by Gingoog City Mayor Erick Cañosa today, June 13.
Accordingly, the father who worked as a construction worker in Manila together with his wife, a house help, and their 1-year old daughter arrived at Cagayan de Oro Port last June 11 via 2Go vessel and were fetched by a van and placed directly at the City Isolation Unit upon their arrival in Gingoog City. Yesterday, they were swabbed and results came out today that the father and the daughter tested positive. Meanwhile, the mother tested negative. However, both are asymptomatic.
Contact tracing is now ongoing including the van driver and all other occupants.
