Maria Reyna Xavier University Hospital (MRXUH) in Cagayan de Oro City is also setting up a bio-containment modular Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Laboratory for COVID-19.
The laboratory project which will be funded by United Laboratories (UNILAB), is a transformed modular, shipping container van with multi-room laboratory suite which will meet the international guidance for biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and certifiable by the Department of Health for clinical testing of human specimens. It will require a 6-person shift of BSL2-trained Medical Technicians who have also gone through training in PCR-based Testing. Each 8-hour shift is capable of processing 100-150 tests or an estimate of 300-450 tests at full capacity of 3 shifts.
