A 25-year old female from Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental who is 9 weeks pregnant has died just an hour after being referred to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) yesterday, May 2, 2020 due to complaints of abdominal pain and difficulty of breathing. Result of her swab test is still pending.
In an official statement posted in Facebook, Tagoloan Municipal Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Advincula said the patient had exposure for one month to a person-under-monitoring (PUM) from Davao who is asymptomatic up to present. Contact tracing and disease surveillance is already being done. Meanwhile, patient’s body was buried immediately following DOH protocol. Read the full text of the statement below.
May 02, 2020 – This is an OFFICIAL STATEMENT from Dr. Jennifer Advincula the Municipal Health Officer of LGU-Tagoloan.
We are so saddened to hear from COVID-19 DOH Emergency Operation Center that we have one covid Suspect case. A 25 years old, female, Gravida 3 (on her 3rd Pregnancy). She initially had OPD Consultations at RHU and at St. Paul Hospital, eventually refered to NMMC with a Diagnosis of Intrauterine (9 weeks Age of Gestation), early pregnancy. Due to bleeding, Dilatation and Curettage (D&C), was done last May 1, 2020. She was discharged on the same day after 8 hours. This May 2, 2020, she complaint of abdominal pain. Consult made at St. Paul Hospital and referred back to NMMC, with sudden Difficulty of Breathing. On Physical Examination at NMMC noted Pneumonia. It was unfortunate to know that, patient arrest and died after an hour. Swab were taken for PCR testing. Patient has no other illness. She had (+) history of exposure to PUM for more than one month from Davao City. This PUM is asymptomatic until present. Contact Tracing and disease surveillance is being done. All those in close contact with the patient are requested to have home quarantine and shall be monitored closely by BHERTS.
The patient is buried directly following strictly the DOH protocol in handling the remains of the said demise.
