All five (5) seafarers from Manila onboard 2GO vessel St. Michael Archangel will now be allowed to disembark at Ozamiz Port. This after Misamis Occidental Governor Philip Tan came up with the final decision after due consultation with the Vice Governor, Provincial Board members, Provincial Health Officer, the Department of Health (DOH) and MHARSGEN and Deputy Speaker Henry Oaminal.
In his latest Facebook post, Gov. Tan said a medical officer will be sent to conduct a health check and do rapid test to all 5 passengers. Their documents will be checked and once cleared, they will be sent to the respective LGU holding facilities.
Further, Gov. Tan said he has written a letter to MARINA to have proper coordination next time as well. He has also informed the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the DOH regarding the matter. Accordingly, said offices acknowledged their shortcomings and will improve their communications and operations next time.
The returning seafarers were stranded in Manila because of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine and have already completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine and were subjected to undergo the rapid antibody testing in compliance to the stringent safety protocols imposed by the Inter Agency Task Force on COVID 19.
