Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno has ordered stricter measures to be implemented in Barangay Camaman-an particularly in Pinikitan area following the latest confirmed COVID-19 case involving a deceased patient.

It can be recalled that the 69-year old male patient was admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) last April 17 but died the following day on April 18 initially due to Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI). Doctors were able to take swab samples from the patient. Yesterday, test results came out the patient was positive of COVID-19.

Camaman-an is a large barangay extending towards the hilly southeast portion. Pinikitan is on the northwest area near Cogon area.

Pinikitan is a densely populated area very proximate to Cogon Public Market and several commercial blocks around the market. See map below.

No specific actions were stated though as to what stricter measures will be undertaken. Meanwhile, at least 16 individuals including the patient’s family and neighbors are now in an isolation facility managed by the city government.
