It all started when patrolling policemen of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Station No. 8 (COCPO PS-8) saw 75-year old Tatay Elpidio Bendolo who was walking barefoot and carrying a gallon of water. Without hesitation, they offered him a ride to his house which was located at Lower Kiam-is, Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.
After arriving at Tatay’s house, the cops stumbled upon a structure which was made of light materials, tilting on one side and almost ready to topple down. They also learned Tatay Elpidio has a kidney ailment.
After assessing the situation of Tatay Elpidio, they decided to include him in the Adopt-a-Family Program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) which is now being implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The police then wasted no time repairing Tatay’s house even replacing its nipa roof with GI sheet material. Many also offered more help to Tatay Elpidio when word got out of the police helping Tatay.
They also put up solar lighting.
An elated Tatay Elpidio with the members of COCPO Station 8 in Brgy. Lumbia.
Hats off to the men uniform of COCPO PS-8.
