Two suspects including a public school teacher were arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and members of the Cagayan de Oro City Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB) for selling overpriced face masks.
The entrapment was held at around noon, April 3, 2020 at a local branch of a courier firm near City Central School where the supposed “meet-up” was held. Based on a press release by the NBI thru iFM CDO, the suspects were identified as Marichu S. Arias of Barangay Tambaling, El Salvador City and Jasmin J. Aquino of Reyes Compound, Indahag, Cagayan de Oro.
Accordingly, the suspects were selling N95 masks at P235/pc and disposable masks at P40/pc when the price ceiling set by the Department of Health (DOH) were P105/pc and P28/pc, respectively.
