About 18 million low-income households in the country will benefit from the government’s Social Amelioration Package. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) today released a 4-step guide on how to avail of the financial assistance in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
DSWD will be distributing Social Amelioration Cards (SAC) to respective local government units (LGU) which will also distribute them at the barangay level. The financial aid will range between P5,000 to P8,000 and priority will be those in the low-income households particularly persons with disabilities, senior citizens, pregnant mothers, homeless persons and workers in informal sectors. In a televised message last night, March 30, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said the government will be launching the “largest and widest” social protection program that would benefit the low-income households and those belonging to the informal sector.
