Fifteen-year old Eljay Pamisa, a rising young boxing star from Cagayan de Oro City, was named a candidate along with 6 others for the first ever Sports Prodigy Award to be given by The Rotary Club of Manila.
The award recognizes homegrown Filipino athlete aged 19 and below considered a potential for elevation to the national seniors program.
Pamisa was nominated by Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) Secretary-General Ed Picson. A Batang Pinoy gold medalist in 2018, Pamisa won a silver medal at the Asian Junior Boxing Championships in United Arab Emirates last October 2019.
Other candidates include Jolo Magcalayo of golf, Christopher Buraga of squash, Justine de Leon of gymnastics, Iggy Pantino of tennis, Kai Sotto of basketball and Alex Eala of tennis.
