Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Jasaan immediately inspected the rock which was dangerously sitting on a cliff overlooking the National Highway near Punta Gorda in response to a post by a concerned netizen.
In its Facebook post, MDRRMO Jasaan stated the site is already outside the boundary of Jasaan and within the jurisdiction of Balingasag town.
Closer look also revealed the rock is a large limestone formation locally called “pagang” which is very common in the province. Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock formed from the skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as corals.
MDRRMO personnel closely inspects the craggy formation.
Compare the size of the limestone rock with that of a man.
Note the loose sediments in the immediate surrounding.
