A total of 5 provinces, 9 cities and 80 municipalities in Northern Mindanao have passed the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) standards for Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping in 2019. The number accounts for 96% of all local government units (LGUs) assessed in the region.
Based on the list of passers, only the municipality of Baliangao in Misamis Occidental and the towns of Maigo, Munai and Tagoloan in Lanao del Norte failed to make the list.
Good financial housekeeping is among the components of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), which is conferred to LGUs which pass the reporting guidelines of the Commission on Audit (COA), and declare their financial reports under the full disclosure policy.
It is also one of the factors being considered for an LGU to pass the first core area of SGLG, which is Financial Administration. The other three areas are disaster preparedness, social protection, and peace and order.
