A new building will soon rise at the House of Hope, a psychiatric custodial care facility located at Palalan, Lumbia, now owned by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro following the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed 2-storey administration building and ward held today, January 22, 2020 with City Mayor Oscar Moreno and other city officials leading the event.

The new building will rise at the nearly half a hectare lot donated by the heirs of the Escaño family.

It can be recalled that the City took ownership of the care facility frpm the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed last October 15, 2018. Said agreement also calls for the collaborative effort among City Hall, Department of Health, the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and the city-owned JR Borja General Hospital for the operation of the facility intended for the mentally disabled.
