There will be sixty (60) jeepney routes next year in Cagayan de Oro, up from 53 routes this year as the city starts to rationalize public transport routes.
The plan was disclosed by Engr. Nonito Oclarit of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) during a recent meeting with the City Council Committee on Public Utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo “Bong” Lao. Also present were LTFRB-10 Regional Director Aminoden D. Guro and other members of the said committee. Of the 60 PUJ routes, 39 will be in the 1st District and 21 in the 2nd District.
As shown below, missing in District 1 are the PUJs serving Kauswagan basically since their routes are already covered by Bonbon PUJs. In District 2, new PUJ routes to be introduced include 2 more Bugo routes, 2 more Lapasan routes, and 1 additional routes each for Macabalan, Alae, Indahag, Puerto and Macapaya (Camaman-an).
Included in the plans are the number of jeepneys required per route based on study. Read related post below.
