The first segment of the Bonbon-Macabalan Bridge crossing the river can now be observed as construction continues for the 8th bridge spanning Cagayan de Oro River.
As shown below, you can observe the first span at left with another pier right next.
When completed, the 600-meter bridge will provide alternate access for trucks and other vehicles going to Cagayan de Oro Port and vicinity.
Construction of the bridge has slowed down lately as observed.
You can compare with our previous update last September in the link below. There is no traffic in the area and the contractor can proceed without any obstruction yet, significant progress is still not observed.
Again, in a span of 6 months, the bridge project has not reached even halfway across the river. See our post last June below.
Again, this made us compare with the much bigger, longer and even more difficult Cebu-Cordova Toll Bridge which has progressed significantly. Watch video below.
This bridge is expected to ease traffic on both Puntod-Kauswagan abd Marcos Bridges. But up to now, the project is still a long way to go.
With the heavy traffic at Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge, motorists couldn’t help but notice the bridge from afar.
