Cagayan de Oro City has won the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Highly Urbanized City during the awarding ceremonies held at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang today, November 28, 2019.
The award is conferred to local government units (LGUs) in recognition of their important role in promoting children’s rights to survival, development, protection and participation, as well as ensuring child-friendly governance. The city received a Presidential Trophy and P500,000 cash prize.
Other winners are Carmona, Cavite, and Sto. Tomas, La Union for the 1st to 3rd class, and 3rd to 6th class municipality, respectively, and the cities of Tagaytay and Naga.
