Remember that old Spanish kiln in Alubijid town in Misamis Oriental? The first archaeological site in the municipality recently incurred some significant damage.
In his Facebook post, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Tristan Lindsey Kaamiño Ares showed some photos of the kiln with a collapsed portion on one side as shown below.
Compare the photo below of the kiln before the damage.
Ares could not confirm if it was damaged during the recent earthquakes though since they did not inspect the site right after the tremors.
The kiln was recently visited by validators from the National Museum last May 2019. Read link below.
The old Spanish Kiln (Horno) which was built during the 18th century is considered very significant by heritage conservators ecause it is the only one in Northern Mindanao that was built during the Spanish period that survived the onslaught of time.
