A New People’s Army (NPA) couple has been reunited with their children after surrendering to government troops, almost two years since being separated after joining the rebel movement.

In a press release, the two former NPA rebels named alias Nicole and Robert turned themselves in last October 16 after realizing that they were just carried away by the lies and deceit of the NPA. And last October 21, they got reunited with their two children and their mother at the headquarters of the 8th Infantry Battalion in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

It was through the efforts of the 8th IB army troopers that the former rebel-couple finally got connected to their family.

The former rebels were teary-eyed upon embracing their two young boys who were reportedly always crying and looking for their parents as recounted by Nicole’s mother who acted as guardian of the boys for 2 years.

The couple and family will now be assisted by the local government unit and they will be included in the government Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP), a government program intended for the former rebels to assist them in a fresh start of their life.
