Six years since it closed shop, Asia Pacific Timber Plywood Corporation (APTCO) will be reopening soon in Gingoog City as Great Providence Wood Products Corporation (GPWPC), a much bigger and upgraded company with new investors.
It can be recalled that the city’s lone plywood company located in Brgy. Lunao had to stop its operations in 2014 due to the total log ban. Thousands of workers were displaced due to the closure. Read link below.
But the good news, the new investors through GPWPC already had initial talks with City Mayor Erick Cañosa and Vice Mayor Peter Unabia on the planned re-opening.
Accordingly, thousands will be employed once the factory re-opens.
