STRONG HEART CARDIAC REHABILITATION CENTER, the first of its kind in Cagayan de Oro City is now open offering a customized and supervised outpatient program to help patients maintain a healthy heart and enjoy an improved quality of life thru exercise, education, medication and nutrition.
Located along Gusa Highway right across Capitol University Medical Center (CUMC), the center has a cardiac rehab team led by Cardiologist Dr. Lilian Ville Bacalso (photo below, 2nd from right) who is the Cardiac Rehab Consultant, Cardiac Rehab Nurse Rachel Ubaldo (2nd from left), Cardiac Rehab Physiotherapist Chad Trinidad (right) and Cardiac Rehab Clinical Pharmacist Jereyca Memoracion (left).
The idea of opening a cardiac rehab center in the city was first discussed with Dr. Roy Sasil, President of the Philippine Heart Association Northwestern Mindanao Chapter some time in December last year. After months of preparation, Strong Heart Cardiac Rehab Center finally had its soft opening last September 18.
The cardiac rehab center specifically caters to those who had a recent heart attack, with stable angina (chest pain), heart failure or those who had undergone heart procedures such as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which includes angioplasty or cardiac stenting or those who had heart surgery such as coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve repair or replacement, and even those who had heart or heart-lung transplant.
By the way, in case you’re asking, they don’t heal “broken hearts.”
The center has its own exercise equipment like the treadmill and the stationary bike.
A symbolic grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today at Grand Caprice Restaurant.
