Cagayan de Oro pinweight Eljay Pamisa assured himself of a bronze medal after barging into the semifinals of the ongoing 2019 Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates beating Po-Hao Hsu of Chinese Taipei, 4-1, in his quarterfinal match yesterday. He is the lone Philippine bet left in the competition.

Pamisa now faces Thailand’s Thanakom Aonyaem for a spot in the gold medal match.

Meanwhile, compatriot bantamweight Dave Asi Laurejas was not as lucky after bowing to Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek.
