One suspect was killed while three policemen were wounded in a drug buy-bust turned shootout late Friday afternoon, October 11, 2019 at Vamenta Subdivision in Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental.
In a press release by Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) spokesperson Major Evan Vinas, the slain suspect was identified as a certain Maingko Alinog while the three wounded policemen were PSSg Rex Tenio of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), PCpl Reynante Rara of COCPO Station 2 and PSSg Homer Rapleza.
In the said report, it was revealed that a composite team of COCPO Police Station 2, City Intelligence Branch and City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) personnel were conducting a drug buy-bust operation against the suspect when the latter, after sensing he was dealing with cops, immediately drew his gun and shot the undercover cops posing as buyers. A shootout ensued resulting to the wounding of PSSg Tenio who was hit on his left arm and PCpl Rara who was shot on his right hand.
The suspect then fled and entered a house at Block 36, Lot 15 also inside Vamenta Subdivision where he was cornered by pursuing policemen.
When the COCPO SWAT team arrived, the suspect reportedly threw a grenade against the lawmen and a firefight ensued where PSSg Rapleza was shot on his thigh. Consequently, the policemen finally subdued and killed the suspect who sustained several gunshot wounds.
Recovered from the crime scene were 12 pieces of 9 mm fired cartridge case (FCC), 2 pcs 5.56 FCC, 6 pcs Cal .45 FCC, 1 pc Cal .45 fired bullet, 1 pc Cal .45 PARA ORDNANCE PISTOL 541223 with magazine, 1 pc sachet of suspected shabu inside the pocket of suspect’s pants and another sachet of shabu beside his body.
