Manila 6th Dist. Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. has filed House Bill 2069 which makes Bible reading including its discussion and examination mandatory in all public elementary and secondary schools in the country. The measure also includes Koran reading for Muslim pupils as the case may be.
Abante, who is a pastor of the Metropolitan Bible Baptist Ekklesia, said in his explanatory note that although the country holds the distinction of being the only Christian nation in Asia, we still have not appreciated the relevance, importance and power of the Bible. Read it below.
