The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) is asking the Cagayan de Oro City Council to amend the City Ordinance to allow towing of vehicles violating traffic rules. This after one of its clamp was destroyed by the driver of a vehicle caught parking inside a yellow box near Capistrano Street.
As shown in the photos below taken by RTA, a red Mitsubishi Montero bearing plate number KAA 4678 was clamped by RTA personnel at around 5:32 pm, Sunday afternoon, September 8 for parking inside the yellow box. However, instead of paying the fine to remove the clamp, the driver forcibly removed it destroying the clamp.
Because of the incident, the RTA is seeking for an amendment of the city ordinance where they can immediately tow vehicles found violating traffic rules such as illegal parking.
Meanwhile, the case has been referred to the City legal office for possible charges for destroying government property. Read more at SunStar CDO.
