Alexis Yonson from Cagayan de Oro City, who works with indigenous people (IP) weavers, coffee producers, and entrepreneurs, is among eight young leaders from Mindanao who are now in New Zealand for a four-month leadership program funded by the New Zealand government.
The 26-year old Yonson (first from right) is shown together with 7 other Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP) scholars.
Yonson is project officer at ECHOsi Foundation Inc. which focuses on development programs for cultural and social enterprise sustainability, women’s economic empowerment and market access for the marginalized.
The MinYLP aims to give young leaders exposure to new ideas, develop their research and evaluation skills, and contribute further to peace and sustainable development initiatives in Mindanao communities.
