The late Gloria Laurena San Pedro Rosales, founder of Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City will be posthumously honored with the Ozanam Award during the 2019 Traditional University Awards of the Ateneo de Manila University on September 10 at the Hyundai Hall of Arete in the Ateneo’s Loyola Heights campus in Quezon City.

Based on Ateneo’s news release, Rosales will be honored for establishing seven schools, one in Luzon and six in Mindanao, including the CHED-certified Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro City leaving an invaluable legacy of education to Mindanao, a region that has been underserved by administrations past and present. Before her death in 2009, Rosales was well-known in the region for her philanthropy.

The award is named after social justice advocate Frédéric Ozanam, founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
