Due to the rising cases of dengue in the city, the City Government of Iligan has declared a state of calamity in the city. Records from the Iligan City Health Office showed local dengue cases have already reached 1,138 with 14 deaths from January 1 to August 17 this year.

With the declaration, the city can now use funds for measures in combating dengue which includes but not limited to buying protective gear, fogging machines, medicines and chemicals used in destroying mosquito breeding grounds, and information and education campaign.
