More than 300 students of “Colegio de Iligan” attended the milestone opening of Iligan City’s first community college at the former National Steel Corporation Complex in Barangay Suarez.
City Mayor Celso Regencia led the historic opening of classes last August 13 at the famed former steel plant site.
Initial courses offered include: Bachelors of Science in Agriculture, Criminology, Midwifery, and Social Sciences.
Although students are entitled to free tuition, parents will still shoulder other expenses like school supplies, transportation and meals.
The Colegio de Iligan will temporarily be held at the 3rd Floor of the NSC Admin Building while the City Government decides where to locate and eventually construct the campus. The college has 19 faculty members with a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree in their own field.
