Misamis Oriental Rep. Juliette T. Uy is calling for an immediate arson investigation after a fire broke out at the yard of Verde Soko inside Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental where some 5,000 tons of waste materials are currently stored and due for shipment back to South Korea.
Below are some of the photos of the fire as posted on social media by Rep. Uy. Firemen are seen battling the blaze at the Verde Soko compound.
Rep. Uy is appealing to the National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to investigate the matter and arrest all those responsible for such crime. Rep. Uy said it made matters worse by polluting the air with the release of toxic fumes from the burning of the garbage.
