Despite of nearly an hour of temporary suspension of play, everyone who watched last night’s Philippine Superliga ‘Spike On Tour’ in Cagayan de Oro City featuring four of the top professional volleyball teams in the country went home fully satisfied.
Both games were equally exciting and thrilling with each extending to a 5th and deciding set. The crowd’s deafening roar, cheers and applause reverberated throughout the Corpus Christi Gym each time a team makes a score through the entire matches. So exceptional that the local fans finally experienced in person the stellar plays of the likes of Aby Marano, Ara Galang, Kalei Mau, Jerrili Malabanan, Grethcel Soltones, Jaja Santiago, Denden Santiago-Manabat, Mika Reyes and crowd favorite Sisi Rondina, to name a few, whom they have been watching only on TV or in YouTube.
At the close of the 2nd game which ended around past 10:30pm, there is really a common observation that the city badly needs a much bigger and modern venue to host such games. The gym was packed to the rafters despite the expensive tickets. A bigger venue could have lower down the ticket prices.
