For those who don’t know where Manresa is, it’s that tree-lined property on the left if you’re going uptown along Masterson Avenue in Uptown Cagayan de Oro.
Named after Manresa, a town in Spain where the Society of Jesus co-founder St. Ignatius de Loyola spent some time in his life, it starts right after the Chinese Cemetery where you can see an entrance gate. The property ends right along Zone 1 Crossing in front of SM City. It has been the home of Xavier University’s College of Agriculture for more than half a century. In fact, it was established in 1956 by Fr. William Masterson, SJ to whom the road was named. It is also the home of the South East Asia Rural Social Leadership Institute (SEARSOLIN) since 1964.
