Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade led today’s formal inauguration of the new 6-lane Electronic Gate Complex of the Port of Cagayan de Oro which was built to address the long queuing lines and decongest the roads towards the cargo gates/ port entry point.

According to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the new Gate Complex is fully-equipped with CCTV cameras for easy identification and security purposes, weighbridges, electronic gate system to complement the Electronic Payment System and Electronic Permit System, payment booths, among others. Traffic congestion has been a perennial problem that makes roads unsafe and inefficient for passage and use by cargo laden trucks/chassis. These obstructions are causing undue delays in the delivery/transport/loading of cargoes, increased port stay time of vessels and low port productivity.
