More than three weeks since the ‘bakwits’ left, Vicente de Lara Park is still closed to the public.
The park right in front of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Capitol has been off-limits to everybody except for authorized security personnel and workers at the under construction Provincial Tourism Pasalubong and Negosyo Center.
All park entry points have been blocked or placed with railings.
A capitol parking attendant onsite said he has no idea when the park will be reopened. He thought it could re-open next month. The park is still being cleaned.
According to him, the park was initially closed to prevent the ‘bakwits’ from sneaking into the park at night. He added the park particularly the site where the ‘bakwits’ once loved smelled of human feces right after they left.
The park used to be a good spot for morning and afternoon walks, chilling, spending time with friends, play a game of chess and even a practice area for students. So when will the park re-open? My guess is as good as yours.
