What if all the ice in the world melted? What will Cagayan de Oro look like if sea level rose by 216 feet? A National Geographic article in 2013 has showed a map of the world if sea level will rise by 216 feet as a result of the melting of all ice at the poles and mountain tops.
As shown in the map below courtesy of Project LUPAD, the current coastal areas and much of the city’s urban areas will now be underwater. 216 feet is about 66 meters.
Here’s a closer look showing some of the barangays. Elevated areas such as Uptown CDO will now become beach fronts.
