Aviation authorities at Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental yesterday, May 29, seized some 5,997 pieces of 100 trillion Zimbabwean dollars contained in a package bound for Manila. The said bank notes amount to around P124,000 in the currency exchange.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, aviation security decided to open the package after it passed thru the x-ray. It was initially declared as waste material. Officials then contacted the shipper to visit their office at the airport to present appropriate documents for the shipment. Accordingly, the shipper bought the said bank notes in Pagadian City at a cost of P450,000.
Authorities are now investigating the shipper as well as if the said bank notes are authentic.
