The road works being implemented at the Kauswagan approach of the Puntod-Kauswagan Bridge is related to the Flood Risk Management Project for the city under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Loan Agreement.
A billboard is finally put up onsite as shown below. The project costs P371 million and is contracted to AM Oreta & Co., Inc. and IPM Construction & Devt. Corp. as a joint venture. As indicated, the project will be completed in December 2020.
Accordingly, the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) was issued in 2013. The said project is part of the flood control infrastructure measures after Typhoon Sendong.
You can see the eastbound lanes are now closed to traffic. Perhaps, they’re elevating the bridge approach to be at level with the proposed dike structure.
The flood control dike has been completed on the opposite side of the river from Puntod to Macabalan. Only the Kauswagan-Bonbon stretch and the Consolacion-Puntod side are left without a dike. Meanwhile, the dike along Burgos Street is still ongoing.
