Former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor VICENTE “DONGKOY” YAP EMANO has died at the age of 76. This was confirmed by his son, Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano in an interview over radio today. Accordingly, Emano passed away at 12:28am, May 7, 2019 due to pneumonia.
Emano who was known as a political kingpin in the province first entered politics when he was mayor of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental from 1980-1983. He was elected to the gubernatorial post serving from 1986 to 1995. He went to become a 4-term mayor of Cagayan de Oro City from 1998 to 2007 and again from 2010 to 2013. From 2007 to 2010 he was City Vice Mayor. In 2013, he had an unsuccessful comeback in the political arena losing to incumbent City Mayor Oscar Moreno.
Information gathered revealed his remains will be cremated today and his urn will be brought at their residence at Sta. Cecilia Village in Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. He will be buried in his hometown in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. See article by Mindanao Daily News below.
