While many still complain about the vehicular traffic in Cagayan de Oro City, there’s still also a lot of work needed to instill discipline among its pedestrians.
As clearly depicted in the following photos at a major intersection along CM Recto and Corrales Avenue, many ignore traffic signals. They cross the street even if the signal for pedestrians is RED. Often times, they end up stuck in the middle of the street as motor vehicles move forward. This happens everyday at almost all intersections in the city.
Generally, the city’s pedestrians cross the streets and highways wherever and whenever they can unmindful of the traffic signs. As many would say, what ever happened to the jaywalking ordinance? Is it still being enforced?
And by the way, in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently suggested ‘jaywalking’ to be placed in NBI records which will become a ‘hit’ when you secure for NBI Clearance.
