The Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in Cagayan de Oro City stands to get some P20 million additional funding from the Department of Health (DOH) after Senator Grace Poe cited the need to improve the medical facility which serves not just the city and Misamis Oriental but also adjacent provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Lanao Norte, Zamboanga del Norte and even the Agusan Provinces.

Poe who was in Cagayan de Oro last week to check the status of the NMMC appealed to the DOH for the fund increase which shall compose of P10 million each for facilities improvement and purchase of medical supplies. Poe said the hospital uses improvised wooden incubators for preterm newborn babies that require special care.
