A trailer truck nearly fell into Panguil Bay as it tried to enter a barge at Mukas Port in Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte last Monday, January 21, 2019.
As shown in the photos below, the prime mover was already inside the barge when the barge’s ramp apparently slipped and fell into the bay. The length of the trailer and the barge’s docking ropes prevented the truck from rolling into the water.
The incident which lasted for several hours into the night caused delays to passengers and motorists already inside the barge.
Mukas Port is a privately-owned seaport and one of the busiest ports in Northern Mindanao with thousands of travelers commuting everyday between Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental and Kolambugan in Lanao del Norte. The port’s operations are expected to be affected when the Panguil Bay Bridge will be completed and opened in a few years time.
